The ISCAR 5667769 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in helical shoulder milling operations. Carrying the ANSI designation HM390 TPKT 100316PDR IC830, this triangular insert features a positive rake geometry and a helical cutting edge style that promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The IC830 grade is applied with an AlTiN and TiN PVD coating using ISCAR Sumotec PVD technology, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during high-productivity milling. With a corner radius of 1.60 mm (0.0630 inch) and a PDR chip breaker, the insert is suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes in demanding materials. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using a screw-clamp holding method.
This insert is intended for use in the HM390-10 cutter series, specifically compatible with HM390 TPKT toolholders. Primary workpiece material applications include steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S). The right-hand cutting geometry and positive rake angle make this insert well suited to both roughing and finishing strategies in CNC milling centers where consistent chip control and extended tool life in difficult-to-machine alloys are priorities.
Designed for use with HM390-10 series milling cutters accepting HM390 TPKT style inserts. Compatible cutter series designation is HM390-10 as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the torque specification provided in the toolholder documentation — do not use impact tools on the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
