The ISCAR 5667044 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in DOVEIQMILL-series dovetail milling cutters. Carrying the ANSI and ISO 13399 designation IQ845 SYHU 070400N-MM in grade IC830, this insert features a square SYHU style with a negative rake geometry and a T-Land cutting edge. It is coated with an AlTiN and TiN multilayer finish applied via PVD coating process, classified as Sumotec PVD. The insert measures 0.1650 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.5433 inches and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.1810 inches. Eight cutting edges per insert make it a cost-effective choice for production milling environments. Licensed HVAC and plumbing technicians aside, this part is primarily installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in metalworking operations.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to material codes P, M, and S. The MM chip breaker geometry is suited for medium machining conditions on these demanding materials. It is a single-sided, neutral-hand insert held in the cutter body by a screw, making it compatible with toolholders and milling bodies in the IQ845 cutter series. Typical applications include shoulder milling and pocket milling operations in aerospace, energy, and general metalworking industries where difficult-to-machine alloys are encountered.
Designed for use with IQ845 cutter series bodies in the DOVEIQMILL platform. Compatible cutter series designation is IQ845 as specified by the manufacturer. Confirm cutter body seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions against the IQ845 SYHU 070400N-MM designation before ordering.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the insert clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut or feed rate parameters established in the cutter body documentation.
