The ISCAR 5666731 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, this triangular insert carries the IC830 grade designation with an AlTiN plus TiN PVD coating applied through ISCAR Sumotec PVD technology. It measures 0.5980 inches in length and width, 0.2300 inches thick, and features a 0.1260-inch corner radius. Three cutting edges are available per insert, each with a helical cutting edge style and positive rake geometry. The PDR chip breaker controls chip flow effectively across the supported material range. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material application codes P, M, and S. The positive rake and helical edge reduce cutting forces, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine materials. It is sized to the HM390-15 cutter series and carries the ANSI code HM390 TDKT 150532-PDR IC830 along with ISO code HM390 TDKT 150532-PDR. The right-hand configuration supports standard climb and conventional milling setups. Maximum depth of cut is 0.4720 inches (12.00 mm). Effective cutting edge length is also 0.4720 inches.
Designed for use in HM390-15 series milling cutters. ANSI code HM390 TDKT 150532-PDR IC830 and ISO code HM390 TDKT 150532-PDR confirm direct fitment within the HELI3MILL HM390 cutter family.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Fully de-energize and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and ensure the insert seat and pocket are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Reuse of damaged or chipped inserts is not recommended, as it can cause premature cutter body wear or insert ejection during cutting.
