The ISCAR 5650498 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 0.3937-inch (10 mm) cutting diameter with a 2.3622-inch (60 mm) length of cut, classifying it as an extra-long reach tool. The two-flute, right-hand spiral design runs at a 30-degree helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. Fine grain carbide construction provides the edge integrity needed for tight-tolerance profiling, slotting, and side milling operations. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. It ships uncoated and is intended for use without an additional surface treatment.
This end mill suits CNC machining centers and manual mills where extended reach into deep pockets or cavities is required on non-ferrous metal components. The extra-long length of cut makes it well-suited for mold work, aerospace component machining, and general job shop applications where standard-length tools cannot reach the full depth of a feature. The straight-cylindrical shank mates directly with standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 10 mm shank diameters.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with 10 mm straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Primary workpiece material classification is non-ferrous metal (ISO material code N), including aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and similar materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or drawbar is disengaged before installing or removing the end mill. Verify proper shank engagement depth in the toolholder per the toolholder manufacturer's minimum grip specification — insufficient engagement on an extra-long tool increases deflection and breakage risk. Confirm runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a production cut.
