The ISCAR 5622916 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It carries a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.02 inch corner radius, and three flutes arranged in a variable helix configuration. The variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during cutting, which is the defining feature of the Chatter Free (CF) series. This single-end tool is centercutting and handles both roughing and finishing passes, making it a versatile choice for machinists working in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous materials. It ships uncoated with a bright finish suited to these applications.
This end mill fits standard toolholder setups and is well-suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where non-ferrous stock is being profiled, slotted, or contoured. The extended reach design and short flute length support use in pockets and tight-clearance cuts. The 0.02 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and improves surface finish compared to a square end geometry. Machinists working in production environments will find the coarse pitch and variable helix combination effective for chip evacuation and vibration control at elevated feed rates.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight shank. Shank and mill diameter are both held to h6 tolerance for consistent toolholder fit. Primary workpiece material designation is non-ferrous metal (Material Code N), including aluminum, brass, and copper alloys.
A licensed machinist or qualified CNC operator should set tool length offset and runout before cutting. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank; h6 tolerance shanks require proper collet or end mill holder engagement to achieve rated runout. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before any tool change. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque range for this shank diameter.
