The ISCAR 5620998 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal-removal applications. It measures 5/16 inches in diameter with a 3/4-inch length of cut and a 2-1/2-inch overall length. The tool features 6 spiral flutes ground from submicron grain carbide and carries a TiAlN finish that extends tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. A 45-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and is configured for right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. It is suited for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC or manual milling equipment.
This end mill is intended for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, titanium alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The primary workpiece material codes listed by the manufacturer include H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. The regular-length configuration makes it a practical choice for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling where a compact, rigid setup is preferred over extended-reach tooling.
Compatible with workpiece materials designated under manufacturer codes H, K, M, P, and S, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. Fits standard 5/16-inch collets and end mill holders used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder to achieve full shank engagement and minimize runout. Verify workpiece clamping and tool projection before beginning any cut to reduce the risk of tool deflection or breakage.
