The ISCAR 5607742 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM390 TPKT 1003PDR IC330. It is a triangular, single-sided insert designed for use in helical milling operations within the HELI3MILL series. The insert features a TiCN plus TiN PVD coating applied over a solid carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and edge integrity during interrupted and continuous cuts. With an inscribed circle of 0.2953 inches, a thickness of 0.1520 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, this insert is sized for the HM390-10 cutter series. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material application codes P, M, and S. The positive rake geometry and helical cutting edge style reduce cutting forces and improve chip evacuation when machining these demanding materials. The PDR chip breaker designation controls chip formation across a range of feed rates. It is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping operations where the HM390-10 platform is specified. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-clamp holding method are standard for this cutter family.
Designed for use with HM390-10 series cutter bodies as specified by the manufacturer. ANSI code HM390 TPKT 1003PDR IC330 and ISO code HM390 TPKT 1003PDR confirm fitment within the HELI3MILL platform. Verify cutter body pocket specifications before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm the tool is fully stopped and locked out before handling inserts or clamping screws. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and do not exceed the torque specified by the cutter body manufacturer. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or contamination before seating a new insert.
