The ISCAR 5607494 is a solid carbide milling insert with manufacturer designation T490 LNHT 130631PNTR in grade IC808, designed for high-performance shoulder and face milling operations. It features a butterfly (LNHT) insert shape with a helical cutting edge style and a negative rake geometry. The insert carries a triple-layer PVD coating classified under ISCAR Sumotec PVD, combining TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN layers for thermal resistance and wear performance. With four cutting edges and a double-sided configuration, it provides extended tool life per insert. The IC808 submicron carbide grade is engineered for demanding cutting conditions across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It is used in shoulder milling and helical interpolation applications on CNC machining centers in both production and job-shop environments. The insert is held in place by a screw-clamping method and is compatible with right-hand tooling. Maximum depth of cut is 0.394 inches (12.50 mm), making it appropriate for moderate to aggressive radial and axial engagement strategies on industrial milling platforms.
Compatible with ISCAR T490 LNK13 cutter series. ANSI code T490 LNHT 130631PNTR IC808; ISO code T490 LNHT 130631PNTR. Designed as a direct-fit replacement for toolholders accepting LNHT-style inserts in the HELITANG T490 platform.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating, and verify correct insert orientation for right-hand cutting direction.
