The ISCAR 5607230 is a round, uncoated ceramic turning insert in the Isoturn series, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the IW7 ceramic grade, it features a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.3125 inches. The insert carries a clearance code of N (zero-degree relief angle) and a tolerance code of G, making it suited for precision turning applications. Its round shape distributes cutting forces evenly across the edge, extending tool life in demanding material removal cycles. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible round-pocket toolholders using a mechanical clamp-style holding method.
This insert is engineered for turning superalloys and titanium, workpiece material categories designated H and S under ISO standards. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes where ceramic grades offer thermal and wear resistance advantages over carbide. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0787 inches (2.00 mm). Typical applications include aerospace component machining, turbine blade turning, and high-temperature alloy part production where consistent edge integrity is critical. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed for use in clamp-style round-pocket turning toolholders within the ISCAR Isoturn series that accept RNG-style inserts with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. Verify holder pocket geometry and clamping configuration against the insert style code RNG and clearance code N before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified clamp screw torque procedure for the toolholder model in use; do not overtighten, as ceramic inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
