The ISCAR 5606917 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Carrying the ANSI designation H606 RXCU 1206-AXMP IC808, this double-sided, round insert features six cutting edges and a negative rake geometry that promotes stable, controlled cutting action. The IC808 grade substrate uses a submicron carbide material with a multilayer PVD coating - TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN - applied through the Sumotec process to deliver heat resistance and edge retention at elevated cutting speeds. At 0.2320 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.4724 inches, the insert seats precisely in compatible HELIDO series toolholders. It is held in place by a screw-clamp method and oriented for right-hand cutting. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace facilities, and production environments install and index this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The AXMP chip breaker geometry is suited for medium to finishing passes where controlled chip flow and surface finish consistency are priorities. The insert fits the H606 FR12 cutter series and is compatible with toolholders designed for the 1206 insert size code. It is well-suited to horizontal and vertical machining centers operating on ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys in both production and repair environments.
Designed for use in the ISCAR HELIDO H606 FR12 cutter series. Compatible with toolholders accepting the 1206 insert size code and round RXCU-style insert geometry. Conforms to ANSI code H606 RXCU 1206-AXMP IC808 and ISO code H606 RXCU 1206-AXMP per ISO 13399.
Insert indexing and replacement is performed by a machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw - do not overtighten or use impact tools on the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Verify correct insert orientation for right-hand cutting direction before resuming operation.
