The ISCAR 5606369 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation T490 LNMT 1306PNTR IC330, designed for use in HELITANG series face and shoulder milling cutters. It features a butterfly (LNMT) insert shape with a negative rake angle, a 90-degree included angle, and a helical cutting edge style that promotes smooth chip flow and reduced cutting forces. The IC330 grade is a PVD-applied TiCN plus TiN coating on a solid carbide substrate, optimized for demanding cutting applications. With four usable cutting edges on a double-sided body, this insert delivers extended tool life per unit. Thickness is 0.514 inches and inscribed circle diameter is 0.262 inches.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and finishing operations where helical cutting geometry provides a performance advantage. It is held in the cutter pocket by a screw-clamp method, consistent with HELITANG tooling system practice. The PNTR chip breaker geometry is selected for these workpiece material groups, making the insert applicable across a range of industrial machining environments including aerospace, energy, and general precision metalworking. It is a right-hand cut insert and conforms to both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Designed for use with T490 LNK13 series cutter bodies. Compatible cutter series designation is T490 LNK13 as specified by the manufacturer. Confirm pocket geometry and screw size with the specific cutter body documentation before installation.
Installation is performed by machining professionals using standard insert-clamp tooling practice. Index or replace inserts only after the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified seating procedure — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the pocket seat and clamp screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
