The ISCAR 5606355 is a solid carbide milling insert in the H490 ANKX 170604PNTR configuration, designed for high-performance indexable milling operations. It carries the IC830 manufacturer grade with an AlTiN and TiN coating applied via PVD Sumotec process, delivering hard, wear-resistant edges suited to demanding cut conditions. The insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a helical cutting edge style, and a negative rake geometry. Thickness measures 0.409 inches and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.441 inches. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the double-sided configuration maximizes usable life per unit. It is installed and indexed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, and S. It fits the H490 ANK17 cutter series and is held in place by screw clamping. The PNTR chip breaker geometry supports productive chip control across the primary workpiece materials. Right-hand cutting orientation is specified. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and high-feed operations on ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys in both roughing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use in the H490 ANK17 cutter series. ANSI code H490 ANKX 170604PNTR IC830; ISO code H490 ANKX 170604PNTR. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. Verify seat geometry and insert size code 170604 against the specific cutter body before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key at the manufacturer-specified seating method to secure the clamping screw without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and runout.
