The ISCAR 5606330 is a solid carbide milling insert designated HM90 ADKT 1505PDR in grade IC830. It belongs to the HELI2000 series and is designed for use in positive-rake face milling and shoulder milling operations. The insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, two cutting edges, and a PDR chip breaker geometry suited for productive material removal. The AlTiN and TiN dual coating is applied via PVD (physical vapor deposition) under the Sumotec classification, providing thermal resistance and edge wear protection. The insert measures 0.6370 inches in length, 0.3800 inches in inscribed circle diameter, and 0.2300 inches in thickness, with a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch). It is held in the cutter body by a screw-on method and is single-sided.
This insert is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is well suited for use in production machining environments where consistent edge life and chip control are required across these demanding workpiece categories. The maximum depth of cut is 0.4720 inches (12.00 mm), and the effective cutting edge length is 0.5710 inches. Typical applications include face milling, ramping, and helical interpolation on milling machines and machining centers in job shop and production settings. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel.
Designed for use with HM90-15 series cutter bodies. Compatible cutter series designation is HM90-15 as specified by the manufacturer. Verify cutter body pocket geometry and screw specification before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the correct engagement - do not overtighten or cross-thread the screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the right-hand designation before resuming cutting operations.
