Product Description

The ISCAR 5605432 is an ONMU 080608-TN IC4100 grade solid carbide milling insert designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling in cast iron and hard material applications. The insert features a double-sided octagon shape with 16 usable cutting edges, delivering extended tool life per insert. A multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN provides wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. The negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style and 0.0315 inch corner radius supports stable, controlled cuts at depths up to 0.217 inches. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and tool crib technicians working in production machining environments.

This insert is suited for milling cast iron and hard materials in both roughing and semi-finishing operations. It fits within the Series 16MILL platform and is compatible with ISCAR F45NM and F45WG cutter bodies. The neutral hand orientation makes it applicable across a range of milling cutter configurations. Typical use cases include face milling, shoulder milling, and high-feed passes on cast iron components in industrial and automotive manufacturing environments where consistent edge performance and long insert life are required.

Key Features

  • 16 cutting edges per insert — double-sided octagon design maximizes cost-per-edge value
  • IC4100 grade with MTCVD multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, TiN) for wear and heat resistance
  • Maximum depth of cut: 0.217 inches (5.50 mm)
  • T-Land cutting edge style with negative rake and 26-degree rake angle for stable chip formation
  • 0.0315 inch (1/32 inch) corner radius for controlled edge engagement
  • Screw-held mounting for secure, repeatable insert positioning in compatible cutter bodies

Compatibility

Compatible with ISCAR F45NM and F45WG cutter bodies within the 16MILL series. Meets ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. ANSI code: ONMU 080608-TN IC4100. ISO code: ONMU 080608-TN.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified feel — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
