The ISCAR 5605189 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation ONMU 080608-TN-MM in manufacturer grade IC908. It is an octagonal, double-sided insert with 16 usable cutting edges, a TiAlN coating applied by PVD, and a negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. The inscribed circle measures 0.7953 inches, thickness is 0.2360 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch). The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation across a wide range of workpiece materials. This insert is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production milling operations.
The ONMU 080608-TN-MM IC908 is designed for face milling and shoulder milling applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H). Its IC908 submicron carbide substrate combined with PVD TiAlN coating makes it well suited for demanding cuts where heat resistance and edge toughness are priorities. The insert belongs to the ISCAR 16MILL series and is confirmed compatible with ISCAR cutter bodies in the F45NM and F45WG series. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2170 inches (5.50 mm). Typical applications include production environments with CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Confirmed compatible with ISCAR F45NM and F45WG series cutter bodies. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards for indexable insert interchangeability verification.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians following machine lockout and spindle-stop procedures before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the cutter body manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping edges prior to use.
