The ISCAR 5604694 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation ONHU 080608-TN-MM in manufacturer grade IC928. This double-sided, octagonal insert features 16 usable cutting edges and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, making it well suited for demanding milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The negative rake geometry and T-Land cutting edge style improve edge stability under interrupted cuts and heavy chip loads. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.217 inches (5.50 mm) and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm), the insert delivers controlled chip formation on difficult-to-machine materials. Installation is by screw-clamp holding method.
This insert is designed for use in the ISCAR 16MILL series milling system and is confirmed compatible with cutter bodies in the F45NM and F45WG series. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and multi-axis contouring operations in aerospace, energy, and general metalworking environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right-hand and left-hand cutter configurations. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions across the primary workpiece materials: steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S).
Confirmed compatible with ISCAR 16MILL series cutter bodies, specifically the F45NM and F45WG cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards under designation ONHU 080608-TN-MM IC928.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the screw-clamp holding method standard to the 16MILL cutter body platform. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torque driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer for the clamp screw to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or contamination before installing a fresh cutting edge.
