The ISCAR 5604584 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-feed-rate face milling operations. Designated by ANSI code FF WOMT 060212T-M IC908, it features a trigon (WOMT) insert style with an 80-degree included angle and a neutral hand orientation. The IC908 grade uses a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability under aggressive cutting conditions. The insert has a positive rake geometry and an M-style chip breaker to promote efficient chip evacuation. It holds three cutting edges per insert, maximizing value per unit. Thickness is 0.1060 inches with an inscribed circle of 0.3882 inches. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die operators, and CNC machine shops are the typical users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for high-feed-rate milling applications across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H). It is sized for use in compatible FEEDMILL series cutter bodies, specifically the FF FW and FF EW cutter series. Installation of milling inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque screwdriver or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the insert without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before mounting. Discard inserts showing edge chipping, cratering, or coating breakdown rather than reindexing a worn edge.
