The ISCAR 5604372 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the manufacturer designation LNMT 1506PN-N MM IC908. It is a double-sided, butterfly-shaped negative-rake insert in the TANGMILL series, designed for use in face and shoulder milling operations. The insert is PVD-coated with TiAlN in the IC908 submicron carbide grade, providing wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. With four usable cutting edges, an inscribed circle of 0.2360 inches, a thickness of 0.5490 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2760 inches, this insert suits demanding milling applications in production and job-shop environments. Licensed ISCAR tooling distributors and metalworking shops typically specify this insert for steel, stainless, cast iron, superalloy, titanium, and hard-material cutting tasks.
This insert is intended for use in compatible ISCAR TANGMILL cutter bodies across a range of machining centers and milling machines. Cutter series compatibility includes FDN, SDN, SSB, F86, and F90 platforms. It is well suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel and stainless steel components, as well as difficult-to-machine superalloys and titanium. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized to manage chip formation across these varied workpiece materials. The neutral hand designation makes it interchangeable in right- or left-hand cutter body positions where the geometry permits.
Compatible with ISCAR TANGMILL cutter series FDN, SDN, SSB, F86, and F90. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards with ANSI code LNMT 1506PN-N MM IC908 and ISO code LNMT 1506PN-N MM.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using the screw-clamping method standard to ISCAR TANGMILL cutter bodies. The spindle must be stopped and the machine placed in an e-stop or lock-out condition before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to proper engagement without overtightening. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating each new insert to ensure accurate runout.
