The ISCAR 5604337 is a square-shaped solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation SDMR 1205PDR-HQ-M in manufacturer grade IC928. Designed for the HELIQUAD cutter platform, this single-sided insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, a positive rake geometry, and a honed cutting edge style. With 4 cutting edges, a 15-degree relief angle, and a 1-millimeter corner radius, it delivers consistent performance in high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. It is installed by CNC machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering material application codes P, M, and S. The HQ chip breaker geometry supports efficient chip evacuation in these demanding materials. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.3940 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.4606 inches, it is suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in medium to high material removal rate applications. Compatible cutter series include the SDK and F90SD-12 platforms. The insert is held in place by a screw-clamp holding method.
Designed for use with ISCAR HELIQUAD cutter series SDK and F90SD-12. Confirmed compatible material grades: C1, C3, C5, and C6 workpiece classifications. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces per primary material codes P, M, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC tooling technicians or machinists. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or holder before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque as listed in the ISCAR HELIQUAD toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
