The ISCAR 5604131 is a round milling insert from the MILLSHRED series, designed for high-performance metal cutting in milling applications. Carrying the ANSI/ISO designation RCMT 1607-FW and manufactured in grade IC928, this single-sided, solid carbide insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The round RCMT profile provides a 360-degree included angle with 4 cutting edges, a segmented cutting edge style, and a positive rake geometry. With a 7-degree relief angle and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3150 inches, it is engineered for aggressive material removal while maintaining edge stability. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists working with CNC milling equipment are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. The FW chip breaker geometry and segmented cutting edge are optimized to manage chip flow and reduce cutting forces in these demanding materials. It is compatible with FRW cutter series toolholders and is held in place by a screw-type insert holding method. This insert is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes depending on feed and speed parameters selected by the operator.
Compatible with FRW cutter series toolholders. Insert size code 1607 with inscribed circle of 0.6299 inches. Designed for use in milling cutters that accept RCMT-style round inserts secured by screw clamping.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamping screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Follow the cutter body manufacturer's recommended clamping torque and verify insert seating before resuming cutting operations.
