The ISCAR 5604060 is a solid carbide milling insert from the DROPMILL series, designed for use in high-performance ball nose milling applications. Carrying the ANSI designation BCR D1.00-QT IC928, this right-hand, single-sided insert features a 0.50-inch corner radius, an inscribed circle of 0.47 inches, and a thickness of 0.17 inches. It is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process under manufacturer grade IC928, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert uses a QT chip breaker geometry with a T-land cutting edge style and a positive rake angle. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians using the screw-holding method.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries material application codes P, M, and S, reflecting broad suitability across common and difficult-to-machine alloys. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.87 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.87 inches, it handles moderate to aggressive material removal in both roughing and finishing passes. The positive rake and T-land edge style reduce cutting forces and help manage heat generation in tough workpiece materials. It is compatible with BCM series cutter bodies and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with BCM series cutter bodies. ANSI code BCR D1.00-QT IC928; ISO code BCR D1.00-QT. Compatible with cutter systems accepting inserts in the DROPMILL series BCR D1.00-QT seat configuration.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the screw-held insert firmly against the cutter pocket - do not overtighten. Inspect the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces for wear or contamination before installing a new insert.
