The ISCAR 5603909 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting external NPT threads. It runs 4 right-hand flutes at 14 teeth per inch (TPI) with a 0.5 inch cutting diameter and a 0.8 inch length of cut. The tool is finished with a TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance during high-speed milling operations. At 3.5 inches overall length and a 0.5 inch shank diameter, it is sized for standard toolholder setups found in CNC machining centers. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals, this mill handles external thread forms in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This thread mill is suited for CNC machining centers producing external NPT threads in production and maintenance-repair environments. With a minimum nominal diameter of 0.71 inches, it is compatible with through-hole and blind-hole applications where helical interpolation is used. The 4-flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation across a range of cutting parameters. It does not require coolant-through capability, making it compatible with standard external coolant setups.
Designed for CNC machining centers using helical interpolation to produce external NPT thread forms; requires a minimum nominal workpiece diameter of 0.71 inches.
This tool is installed by machinists in CNC toolholders matched to the 0.5 inch shank diameter. Confirm runout and toolholder concentricity before cutting to protect thread accuracy. Program helical interpolation moves per the machine controller and tooling manufacturer recommendations. Inspect the TiAlN coating and cutting edges before each setup to verify the tool is serviceable.
