The ISCAR 5603672 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer grade IC910 and designated by ANSI and ISO code SDMT 1205PDR-HQ-M. This square-shaped, single-sided insert belongs to the HELIQUAD series and is engineered for helical cutting edge geometry with a positive rake angle. The AlTiN coating is applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during high-speed milling operations. With four cutting edges, a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.3940-inch maximum depth of cut, this insert is designed for productive metal removal in steel and cast iron applications. It is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method.
This insert is intended for use in face milling, shoulder milling, and helical interpolation operations on steel and cast iron workpieces, covering material grade classifications C2, C3, and C6. The positive rake and helical cutting edge style reduce cutting forces, making it well suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on machining centers and milling machines in job shop and production environments. Machinists and CNC programmers working with P-group and K-group materials will find this insert fits standard HELIQUAD-compatible tooling. Compatible cutter series include SDK and F90SD-12.
Compatible with HELIQUAD series cutter bodies, specifically the SDK and F90SD-12 cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards under designation SDMT 1205PDR-HQ-M IC910.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Before seating the insert, clean the pocket and seating surfaces to remove chips and debris that could affect insert orientation or clamping torque. Secure the insert using the appropriate torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer's specification for the screw supplied with the cutter body. Inspect cutting edges and seating surfaces at each insert index to ensure full pocket contact before returning the tool to service.
