The ISCAR 5603323 is a solid carbide milling insert in the LNKX 1506PN-N MM geometry, grade IC950, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling in steel and cast iron applications. The insert carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. It features a butterfly (LNKX) shape with a negative rake angle, T-Land cutting edge style, and a 90-degree included angle. With four usable cutting edges on a double-sided configuration, this insert delivers extended tool life per unit cost. Maximum depth of cut is 0.276 inches (7.00 mm). Licensed HVAC and metalworking technicians as well as CNC machinists are the primary installers of this consumable tooling product.
This insert is suited for milling operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both roughing and semi-finishing scenarios. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate feed rates in these materials. The insert is held in place by screw clamping and is compatible with ISCAR TANGMILL series cutter bodies. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocketing operations on machining centers and CNC mills. The neutral hand designation makes it adaptable to a range of cutter orientations without requiring a handed insert selection.
Compatible with ISCAR TANGMILL series cutter bodies, specifically cutter series FDN, SDN, SSB, F86, and F90. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards under ANSI code LNKX 1506PN-N MM IC950 and ISO code LNKX 1506PN-N MM.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
