The ISCAR 5602399 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It carries ANSI and ISO 13399 designations of 3M AXKT 2006PDTR IC928 and belongs to the MILL2000 series. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating over a solid carbide substrate, providing thermal resistance and edge durability. With a positive rake geometry, a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, and a 15-degree relief angle, it is engineered to reduce cutting forces and extend tool life when machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is a right-hand, single-sided insert secured by screw clamping and offers 2 cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for use in CNC milling operations across aerospace, energy, and precision manufacturing environments where difficult-to-machine materials are common. Compatible with the 3M AX20 cutter series, it suits applications requiring aggressive depths of cut up to 0.787 inches (20.00 mm). The IC928 grade is optimized for ISO material groups P, M, and S, covering carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, and superalloys including titanium-based alloys. Installation and tool changes are performed by machining professionals using appropriate torx or hex drivers per the cutter body specification.
Designed for use with the 3M AX20 cutter series. ANSI code: 3M AXKT 2006PDTR IC928. ISO code: 3M AXKT 2006PDTR. Chip breaker designation: PDTR. Suited for ISO material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), and S (superalloys and titanium).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state per applicable machine shop safety procedures. Use the correct screw driver type and size specified by the cutter body manufacturer to avoid damaging the insert pocket or clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut or feed rates specified in the cutter body documentation for this insert size and grade.
