The ISCAR 5602279 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI designation QDCT 120516-PDN in manufacturer grade IC328. This single-sided, square-shaped insert features a TiCN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding milling applications. The insert measures 0.5000 inches in length and width with a thickness of 0.1940 inches and offers four cutting edges with a positive rake geometry. A 1.60 mm (0.0630 inch) corner radius and a honed cutting edge style support consistent chip formation. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3940 inches, and the effective cutting edge length is 0.4370 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert in compatible HELIQUAD series cutter bodies.
This insert is designed for face and shoulder milling operations targeting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. The PDN chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle work together to manage chip flow and reduce cutting forces when machining these materials. The 90-degree included angle suits square-shoulder milling applications. It is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method, consistent with standard indexable insert practice in production and job-shop CNC milling environments.
Confirmed compatible with ISCAR HELIQUAD series cutter bodies, specifically SDK and F90SD cutter series. Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards with ANSI code QDCT 120516-PDN IC328 and ISO code QDCT 120516-PDN.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Spindle must be fully stopped and machine power locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat and pocket surfaces should be cleaned of chips and debris before seating the insert to ensure proper support and accurate cutting geometry. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body.
