The ISCAR 5601939 is a solid carbide milling insert with ANSI designation APKT 1003PDR-HM in grade IC950. It carries a TiAlN coating applied by PVD process, delivering thermal and wear resistance in demanding milling operations. The insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and chamfered plus honed cutting edges. With a corner radius of 0.0197 inches (0.50 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3860 inches (8.00 mm), it suits roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel and cast iron. A screw-in holding method keeps the insert secure under interrupted cuts and high feed rates. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for use in the ISCAR HELIMILL cutter series, specifically compatible with HM90-10 series cutter bodies. It targets primary workpiece materials of steel and cast iron, covering material grades C1, C2, C3, C5, and C6. The right-hand cutting configuration makes it suitable for standard right-hand helical milling setups on vertical and horizontal machining centers in both job shop and production environments. The single-sided insert design yields two cutting edges per insert, making edge management straightforward during scheduled tool changes.
Designed for use in ISCAR HELIMILL HM90-10 series milling cutter bodies. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel and cast iron across material grades C1, C2, C3, C5, and C6. Insert size code 1003 corresponds to the APKT 1003PDR-HM ANSI designation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-tighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
