The ISCAR 5600611 is a solid carbide, uncoated milling insert in the HELIMILL series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. Identified by ANSI code APKR 1003PDR-HM IC28, this single-sided, right-hand insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The IC28 grade is suited for cutting non-ferrous metals. At 0.148 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.264 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.406 inches, this insert delivers repeatable performance in compatible HM90-10 cutter bodies. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC milling centers.
This insert is intended for milling non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper alloys. The HM chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle work together to reduce cutting forces and promote efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The insert size code 1003 fits toolholders and cutter bodies designed for that pocket geometry. It is a screw-held, single-sided insert, meaning each insert provides two usable cutting edges before replacement. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes on aluminum components in production machining environments.
Designed for use with ISCAR HM90-10 series cutter bodies. Insert size code 1003 and screw-held mounting must match the cutter pocket specification. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards under ANSI code APKR 1003PDR-HM IC28.
Milling inserts of this type are installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians. Disengage machine power and lock out the spindle before handling cutter bodies or swapping inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified method without over-torquing, which can crack carbide. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating the new insert to ensure full, flat contact.
