The ISCAR 5600101 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SCMT 120408-19 geometry, grade IC50M, designed for precision metal removal in milling operations. This square-shaped, single-sided insert features a positive rake angle and a honed cutting edge for clean, controlled cuts. With four cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance across a range of milling applications. The insert measures 0.5000 inches in width and length, with a thickness of 0.1870 inches and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm). It is screw-held and part of ISCAR's Isoturn series. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this insert in compatible milling toolholders.
This insert is engineered for cutting steel and stainless steel, corresponding to ISO material grades P and M. It suits both roughing and finishing passes where a positive rake geometry and bright, uncoated carbide surface provide low cutting forces and good chip control. The chip breaker designation is 19, optimized for moderate feed rates in steel and stainless applications. The maximum depth of cut is 0.3333 inches (8.00 mm), making it well suited for medium-duty face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling operations. Cutter series compatibility is listed as SS.C.
Compatible with SS.C. cutter series toolholders that accept SCMT 120408 (SCMT 432) style screw-clamp inserts. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw specification before installation. Refer to the ISCAR Isoturn series catalog for confirmed toolholder pairings.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
