The ISCAR 5599306 is an ICSN-style shim designed for indexable turning toolholders. Shims seat beneath the cutting insert to maintain proper insert height and positioning within the pocket, protecting the toolholder body from wear and damage caused by chip load and cutting forces. This shim is configured for negative rake geometry and a right-hand cutting direction, with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle dimension matching diamond-shaped inserts. It weighs approximately 0.02 pounds. Toolroom technicians and CNC machinists install this component as a precision seating element during insert changes or toolholder rebuilds.
This shim is intended for use in indexable turning applications on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It is compatible with MCRNR and related toolholder styles in both left- and right-hand configurations. The ICSN shim style is a standard format commonly found in external turning holders used for roughing and finishing passes on a range of workpiece materials. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 2 units.
Compatible with the following complete toolholder models as specified by the manufacturer: A-MCLNR 20-4, MCKNR 16-4, MCLNL 12-4, MCLNL 16-4, MCLNR 12-4, MCLNR 16-4, and MCRNR 16-4. Designed for use with diamond-shaped indexable inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle in MCRNR-style toolholder pockets.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians during insert indexing or toolholder maintenance. Before replacing or seating the shim, ensure the machine is powered down, the spindle is locked, and all stored energy is released per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Verify the shim seats flat and fully within the insert pocket before torquing the clamp or insert screw. Do not use a damaged or deformed shim, as uneven seating can cause insert breakage or poor dimensional accuracy during cutting.
