The ISCAR 5598717 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG 432-TF geometry, manufactured under the Isoturn series. It carries a dual-layer PVD coating of TiN and TiAlN, which delivers strong wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted or continuous cuts. The insert is 15.49 mm (0.61 inches) long with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a 55-degree diamond shape. The TF chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action, reducing cutting forces and improving chip control. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert in indexable turning toolholders for precision metal removal.
This insert is optimized for superalloy and titanium workpiece materials, making it well suited for aerospace, medical, and energy-sector turning applications where material toughness and heat generation are primary concerns. The IC806 grade is a submicron carbide substrate designed for high-temperature alloys that demand edge stability under elevated cutting temperatures. It is also approved for boring operations, expanding its utility across multiple setups. The positive rake and TF chip breaker combination support both finishing and light roughing passes where controlled chip evacuation is critical.
Designed for use in DNMG-style indexable turning toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert with clamp or pin holding. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). Conforms to ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamp or pin to avoid micro-fractures at the cutting edge. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for this insert geometry, and verify toolholder compatibility with the DNMG 432 insert size code prior to use.
