The ISCAR 5595961 is a solid carbide boring insert in the DCGT3-1AS style with an IC907 manufacturer grade. It is designed for precision internal and external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and an AS chipbreaker, which helps control chip flow and reduce cutting forces. The PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating delivers heat resistance and extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. With a 1/64-inch corner radius and a 7-degree relief angle, this insert suits finishing and semi-finishing cuts where tight tolerances are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series and is rated for universal primary workpiece material application, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range includes hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is suited for boring bars and turning tool holders that accept DCGT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Typical applications include internal diameter finishing, contour turning, and light interrupted cuts in production machining environments.

Installation is performed by a licensed machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is powered down and the tool holder is fully secured in the turret before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the tool holder manufacturer specification - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp load. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and accurate tool geometry.
