The ISCAR 5595493 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a DCGT insert style with a 55-degree diamond shape, a positive rake geometry, and a 0.008 inch (0.20 mm) corner radius for fine finishing work. The insert carries a TiAlN and TiN coating applied via PVD process under the IC907 manufacturer grade, providing wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
The 5595493 is suited for turning cast iron and steel workpieces, covering primary workpiece material codes K and P. It fits into the Isoturn series toolholding system and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes where positive rake geometry and a sharp edge are required. The SM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation during these operations. Maximum depth of cut is 0.098 inch (2.50 mm).
Designed for use in ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders accepting DCGT-style inserts with a 4.40 mm (0.173 inch) hole diameter. Compatible with workpiece materials classified under ISO material codes K (cast iron) and P (steel).
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the pocket seat and chip groove for debris before seating the insert to ensure proper support and repeatability.
