The ISCAR 5593787 is a CCGT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Isoturn series, it carries an IC520 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating that extends edge life and supports higher cutting speeds. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a positive rake geometry, and a 0.0079-inch corner radius suited for light finishing and semi-finishing passes. The AS chip breaker promotes controlled chip formation. A licensed machinist or CNC operator installs this insert into compatible CCGT toolholders using a screw-clamp holding method.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel (M-code workpiece material), non-ferrous materials (N-code), and superalloys or heat-resistant materials (S-code) in both production and job-shop environments. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1563-inch thickness make it a compact choice for lighter-duty turning passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the priority. Maximum depth of cut is 2.50 mm, which positions this insert for finishing-range work rather than heavy stock removal.
Designed for use in CCGT-compatible screw-clamp turning toolholders. Suitable for Isoturn series tooling systems. Primary workpiece material codes M, N, and S indicate suitability for stainless steel, non-ferrous, and heat-resistant superalloy materials per ISO classification.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the program is in a safe state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the screw-clamp fastener to avoid seat damage — refer to the toolholder manufacturer's specification for fastener torque. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamp for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
