The ISCAR 5592532 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting applications in CNC and manual turning operations. Featuring an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance, this CPGT-style insert carries a TiAlN and TiN dual coating applied via PVD process, yielding high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 9.5 mm in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It belongs to ISCAR's Isoturn series and carries manufacturer grade IC907 with a submicron carbide material grade, making it well suited for finishing and medium machining operations.
This insert is intended for turning steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The SM chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium machining passes, providing controlled chip evacuation at moderate to high cutting speeds. It is a screw-held insert compatible with toolholders designed for CPGT geometry inserts. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, or maintenance turning will find this insert appropriate for general-purpose turning tasks requiring consistent edge performance and extended tool life.
Designed for use with toolholders accepting CPGT-style inserts with ANSI size code 3-1 and ISO size code 09T304. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and high-temperature alloys (S) per ISO primary workpiece material codes. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Power down or place the machine in a safe locked-out state before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before seating the new insert. Do not overtighten the clamping screw beyond the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque guidance.
