It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance, which promotes free-cutting action and reduced cutting forces. The PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. At 0.3031 inches in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0315-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for light to moderate finishing passes. It is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series and held in place by screw clamping. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for finishing applications across multiple material groups. The IC907 grade with its submicron carbide substrate covers steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). It is suited for applications where surface finish quality and dimensional consistency are critical. Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders compatible with the ANSI insert code DCMT2-2 and ISO insert code DCMT070208. Verify toolholder pocket geometry, insert seat dimensions, and clamping screw thread before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine in a safe, stopped state and all axes locked or in a safe position. Use the correct torque-limiting screwdriver or wrench for the clamping screw to avoid seat damage — do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the toolholder manufacturer seating procedure. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, wear, or debris before seating a new insert to maintain accurate insert height and runout.
