Product Description

The ISCAR 5568613 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCMT3-2-SM IC830 configuration, designed for use in CNC and manual turning operations on metalworking lathes. This insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 0.8 mm corner radius, and a 9.52 mm inscribed circle. The IC830 grade substrate is PVD-coated with a multilayer TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN stack under ISCARs SumoTec proprietary coating process, delivering thermal resistance and edge toughness across demanding cuts. Right-hand orientation and positive rake geometry reduce cutting forces and heat buildup at the cutting edge.

This insert is suited for turning applications in ISO material groups M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (high-temperature alloys and titanium). It fits the Isoturn toolholder series and is commonly used in precision turning of aerospace components, stainless fittings, and alloy steel parts. Maximum depth of cut is 3.00 mm. The SM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium turning passes where chip control and surface finish are both priorities. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments will find this insert effective across a range of feed rates and cutting depths within its rated parameters.

Key Features

  • IC830 grade with SumoTec PVD coating: multilayer TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN for extended tool life in steel and superalloys
  • Triangular insert shape (60-degree included angle) with positive rake for reduced cutting forces
  • 0.8 mm corner radius balances edge strength with surface finish quality
  • SM chip breaker geometry optimized for medium turning and reliable chip evacuation
  • Right-hand cutting orientation, clearance code C, tolerance code M
  • Compliant with ISO 13399 insert data standards

Compatibility

Designed for use in the ISCAR Isoturn toolholder series. Compatible with ISO material groups M, P, and S as designated by the primary workpiece material codes. Fits toolholders accepting TCMT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle and a 4.40 mm mounting hole diameter.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturers specification - do not over-torque, as this can fracture the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for debris or damage before seating a new insert, and verify correct orientation matches the right-hand designation before resuming cutting.
