The ISCAR 5567996 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the HCP-IQ series, designed for high-performance drilling operations in metalworking applications. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide with an IC908 grade substrate classified as submicron, and features a TiAlN PVD coating for extended wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert has a cutting diameter of 0.677 inches, a height of 0.39 inches (9.91 mm), and a 135-degree included drill point angle. It uses a self-centering point geometry and a slow spiral, web-thinned flute design to reduce entry thrust and improve chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling scenarios. Installation is accomplished via a twist-style insert holding method compatible with HCP-IQ series drill bodies.
This replaceable tip drill insert is intended for use in CNC machining centers, turning centers, and drill press applications where consistent hole quality in difficult materials is required. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes M, S, and H). It is suited to production environments where rapid tip replacement reduces machine downtime compared to solid-shank drills. The insert seat size designation is 17, corresponding to the HCP-IQ body family with ISO number HCP 172-IQ.
Compatible with ISCAR HCP-IQ series replaceable tip drill bodies using insert seat size 17. ISO number designation is HCP 172-IQ. Designed for use with HCP-IQ system drill bodies only; do not use with non-IQ or other ISCAR body families.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the twist-lock seating method standard to the HCP-IQ system. The drill body should be secured and spindle power locked out before tip removal or installation. Verify the insert seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the new tip to ensure proper contact and runout accuracy. Follow the machine tool and tooling system manufacturer guidelines for torque and pre-use runout inspection.
