Built to the HCP-IQ series standard, this insert-style tip mounts via a twist-lock seat into compatible HCP-IQ drill bodies, eliminating full-tool replacement when the cutting edge wears. The tip features a TiAlN PVD coating applied over submicron-grade IC908 carbide, which sustains cutting hardness and heat resistance under aggressive feed rates. The 137-degree included angle is self-centering, reducing the need for a pilot hole in most steel and cast iron applications. Two slow-spiral flutes provide controlled chip evacuation suited to the deep-hole style entry this series supports.
This tip is intended for drilling operations in steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the drill body shank and insert seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tip. Use the appropriate torque key or installation tool specified for HCP-IQ twist-lock tips; do not use pliers or improvised tools that could damage the seating surfaces. Confirm tip is fully locked and seated before spindle engagement. Coolant-through is not supported on this tip; verify coolant delivery method matches the drill body configuration in use.
