The ISCAR 5567978 is a replaceable tip carbide drill from the HCP-IQ series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. The drill tip features a solid carbide construction with an IC908 submicron grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability. The cutting diameter is 0.598 inches with a 137-degree self-centering point angle and a slow spiral, two-flute configuration. These characteristics reduce walking at entry and support consistent hole quality in production environments. The part is installed and serviced by machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC drilling and machining centers.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for use in ferrous metal applications including steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, classified under ISO material codes P and K. Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes M, S, and H). The HCP-IQ series is a common choice for deep-hole and self-centering drilling operations where tip replacement reduces overall tooling cost compared to full solid carbide drills. It is appropriate for both roughing and finish drilling passes in high-volume production or job-shop settings.
Designed for use with HCP-IQ series drill bodies accepting a size 15 insert seat with Geometry P tips. ISO number reference: HCP 152-IQ. Compatible with steel, cast iron, stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO 13399 classification.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer's lockout and tool-change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the HCP-IQ body to secure the tip to the rated clamping torque per the toolholder documentation. Verify runout after installation before returning the tool to production use.
