The ISCAR 5567678 is a CNMG431-TF solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the IC830 manufacturer grade with a multi-layer PVD coating of TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN, marketed under ISCAR's SumoTec proprietary coating designation. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a positive rake geometry, and a TF chip breaker. Corner radius is 0.40 mm (0.016 inches), inscribed circle diameter is 12.70 mm (0.500 inches), and insert thickness is 4.76 mm (0.187 inches). Maximum depth of cut reaches 4.00 mm (0.157 inches). This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
The ISCAR 5567678 belongs to the Isoturn series and is suited for turning operations on stainless steel (M), carbon and alloy steel (P), and superalloys and high-temperature materials (S), per ISO workpiece material codes. It is a right-hand insert conforming to ISO standard 13399 and ISO code CNMG 431-TF. Typical applications include external turning passes where controlled chip evacuation and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures are required. The SumoTec PVD coating supports consistent tool life across intermittent and continuous cuts in these material categories.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting CNMG 431 style inserts with a clearance code of N and tolerance code of M. Compatible with primary workpiece materials designated M (stainless steel), P (carbon and alloy steel), and S (superalloys and high-temperature alloys) per ISO material classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or clamp screw driver specified for the toolholder to achieve proper clamping without over-torquing the insert pocket. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before installing a new insert to maintain accurate positioning and cutting geometry.
