The ISCAR 5566930 is a single-ended DCMT-style turning insert designed for precision lathe and turning-center operations. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a 7-degree relief angle, making it well-suited for profiling and finishing passes. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under the IC6025 grade designation. With an inscribed circle of 3/8 inches and a corner radius of 1/64 inches, it is sized for moderate-to-light depths of cut up to 0.098 inches. Installation is via screw-clamp holding method. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary users.
The 5566930 belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series and is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel. The IC6025 grade, with its CVD multilayer coating, is optimized to resist the built-up edge and heat generation common when cutting austenitic and duplex stainless grades. It is appropriate for external turning, facing, and light profiling on CNC lathes and turning centers in both job-shop and production environments. The SM chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at the cutting parameters typical for stainless steel finishing operations.
Designed as a DCMT-style replacement insert for ISCAR Isoturn toolholders and other DCMT-compatible screw-clamp toolholder systems. ISO code DCMT 3-1-SM. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque; do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to seating-force fracture. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping hardware for chips or damage before installing a fresh insert.
