The ISCAR 5566754 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT style, designed for precision metal cutting in demanding applications. This single-ended insert carries the IC806 manufacturer grade with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process using ISCAR's SumoTec proprietary coating technology. It features a positive rake geometry and a PF chip breaker configuration. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) provides a strong cutting edge suitable for finishing and light-to-medium material removal. The insert is held in place by a screw and is compatible with boring and chamfering operations. It is sized at 0.382 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius.
This insert is intended for turning applications where the primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). It fits the ISCAR Isoturn series toolholding system and is suited for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production shops and job shops. The positive rake and PF chip breaker geometry support controlled chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in difficult-to-machine materials. It is a practical choice for aerospace, medical, and energy sector machining where superalloy and titanium components are common.
Designed for use with ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders accepting CCMT-style inserts. Primary workpiece material designation is superalloy and titanium (ISO code S). Multi-use application includes boring and chamfering in addition to standard turning.
Turning insert replacement should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque driver for the insert screw to avoid seat damage or screw failure. Verify that the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Dispose of used carbide inserts in accordance with local regulations for metal waste.
