The ISCAR 5566708 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICP series, designed to be seated in compatible ICP-style drill bodies for precision hole-making operations. Manufactured in IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed drilling. It features a 0.268-inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree included drill point angle, and a honed cutting edge geometry. The slow spiral flute design and web-thinned point reduce thrust forces and improve chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production machining environments are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is well matched to general-purpose and production drilling on CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable hole quality and tool change efficiency are required. The insert seat size is 6.5, and the ISO number is ICP 068, which can assist in identifying compatible holder bodies.
Designed for use with ICP-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting an insert seat size of 6.5. Compatible with ISO number ICP 068. Suitable for primary use in steel workpieces and secondary use in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Replaceable tip drill inserts of this type are installed and changed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC equipment. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver or wrench for the twist-style holding interface to avoid over-torquing the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for damage or contamination before installing a new tip.
