The ISCAR 5550311 is a DNMG330NF IC807 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, this insert is engineered to maintain edge integrity and resist heat buildup at elevated cutting speeds. It features a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a positive rake geometry and NF chip breaker, which promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The 3/8-inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle and 0.008-inch corner radius make it well-suited for medium to finishing passes on a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tooling technicians install this insert as part of a standard Isoturn toolholder system.
This insert is intended for use in the Isoturn series toolholding system and is rated for primary workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups M, P, and S, covering stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. It is applicable in both production and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The IC807 grade, built on a submicron carbide substrate with PVD TiAlN coating, supports reliable performance across a range of cutting conditions common in these material groups.
Designed for use with Isoturn series toolholders accepting DNMG style inserts. Rated for ISO workpiece material groups M, P, and S. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can chip the insert edge or damage the pocket. Verify insert seating and runout before returning the machine to production cycle.
