The ISCAR 5550222 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT32WG geometry, part of the Isoturn series. It carries a multilayer PVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under the IC8250 manufacturer grade, engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle and a wiper edge for improved surface finish. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, it is sized for medium finishing and semi-finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert as part of a screw-held toolholder system.

This insert is designed for turning stainless steel and carbon steel workpieces in ISO material groups M and P. The WG chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip flow on these materials, making it well suited for external turning on CNC lathes in production and job-shop environments. The CCMT insert style fits standard screw-clamp toolholders accepting CCMT32 inserts.
