The ISCAR 5540019 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CCGT 430-AS geometry, part of the Isoturn series. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a positive rake angle and a 7-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, with a corner radius of 0.0079 inches and an insert length of 0.5079 inches. Grade IC20 is an uncoated fine-grain carbide grade suited for light finishing cuts. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in turning applications requiring tight tolerances and clean surface finishes.
The CCGT 430-AS IC20 is designed for general-purpose turning across a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. The AS chip breaker geometry supports light finishing passes and is well suited for applications where consistent chip control and surface quality are priorities. It is typically used in both production and job-shop environments on CNC and manual lathes.
Designed for use in CCGT-style turning toolholders with a screw-clamp holding method that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle diamond insert. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or hex key for the clamping screw to avoid stripping the screw or cracking the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
