The ISCAR 5520054 is a TCN-series shim designed for indexable turning toolholders. Shims seat between the toolholder pocket and the cutting insert, providing a stable, repeatable seating surface that protects the holder body from insert wear and impact. This shim is configured for negative rake geometry and supports both left-hand and right-hand cutting directions, making it a versatile replacement component for multi-orientation setups. It is compatible with diamond-shaped inserts and is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians performing turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This shim fits a defined set of A/S-PCLNR/L-style toolholders and Coromant-interface modular holders across several size classes. It is suited for industrial turning applications where insert pocket integrity must be maintained across multiple insert index cycles. Replacement shims are typically installed during planned toolholder maintenance or whenever the seating pocket shows signs of wear, deformation, or fretting. The part ships individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Compatible with the following toolholders as specified by the manufacturer: A32T PCLNL-12, A32T PCLNR-12, C4 MULNL 27050-12MW, C4 MULNR 27050-12MW, C5 MULNL 35060-12MW, C6 MULNL-45065-12MW, C6 MULNR-45065-12MW, C6 PCLNL-45065-12-JHP, C6 PCLNR-45065-12-JHP, HSK A63WH-MULNL-J12MW, HSK A63WH-MULNR-J12MW, and HSK A63WH-MULNR-J12MWX2.
Shim replacement is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician during scheduled toolholder maintenance. Before disassembling the toolholder, ensure the machine is powered down, the spindle is locked, and all cutting forces are fully relieved. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when removing and reinstalling the clamp screw — do not substitute driver sizes, as this risks cam-out damage to the screw head or pocket. Verify the shim seats flush in the pocket with no rocking before torquing the insert clamp to the holder manufacturer's specification.
