The ISCAR 5510357 is a WNMG331F3P-style solid carbide turning insert in the IC8250 manufacturer grade, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a multilayer PVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied over a solid carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape with a neutral (N) clearance angle and a 0.0156-inch corner radius makes it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The F3P chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action to reduce cutting forces and improve chip control.
This insert is intended for use in metalcutting applications on CNC turning equipment across production and job-shop environments. Its primary workpiece material classification covers ISO P steels and ISO M stainless steels, making it appropriate for components machined from carbon steel, alloy steel, and austenitic stainless grades. A licensed machinist or CNC operator familiar with insert tooling and lathe setup typically handles installation. The Isoturn series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR Isoturn toolholders that accept WNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding.
Designed for use with ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders that accept WNMG331-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. Suitable for ISO P and ISO M workpiece material classifications including carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a stopped and locked-out state. Use the appropriate torx or hex wrench to secure the clamp and pin per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rated for this insert geometry.
