The ISCAR 5510314 is a TNMG332M3M grade IC6015 solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a triple-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance, thermal barrier protection, and surface lubricity in a single tool. It carries a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral 0-degree relief angle, a 0.0313-inch corner radius, and an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches. The M3M chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation during medium to finishing passes. Insert length is 16.5 mm (0.6496 inches) and insert thickness is 0.1875 inches.
This insert is rated primarily for machining stainless steel (ISO material code M), making it well suited for aerospace, food processing, and pharmaceutical component work where austenitic and duplex stainless grades are common. It is part of ISCAR's Isoturn series, which covers a broad range of external longitudinal turning, facing, and profiling applications on both manual and CNC turning equipment. The clamp-and-pin holding method ensures rigid seating in compatible Isoturn toolholders. Maximum recommended depth of cut is 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches).
Designed for use in Isoturn series toolholders that accept TNMG-style inserts with clamp-and-pin clamping. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions match the 0.375-inch inscribed circle and 0.1875-inch insert thickness before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and confirm the pin locates correctly before applying the clamp; a partially seated insert can fracture under cutting load. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specification printed on the toolholder body or its documentation, as no torque value is published with this insert.
